Caliber 1142 QP

The state-of-the-art 1142 QP movement replaces the 1141 QP and drives the perpetual calendar and moon phase functions, as well as the chronograph function with a direct-drive seconds hand. This caliber is able to keep track of all the vagaries of the calendar without any need for adjustments until March 1st 2100. Watchmakers have also been keenly attentive to the energy constraints relating to the chronograph, in order to minimise their impact on the now 48-hour power reserve. The oscillation frequency of the balance has also been raised so as to increase reliability and shock resistance. This new caliber was developed and designed to meet the stringent Hallmark of Geneva criteria.

Key points

Elegance and Technical sophistication

The collection's classic design codes are embodied in this classic round stepped case with a distinctive fluted pattern on the back, as well as the dauphine-style hands and the railway-type minute track. The tachymetric scale surrounding the dial accentuates the technical nature of the Traditionnelle watch. Its new calibre is visible through a transparent sapphire crystal caseback.

Elegance and Technical sophistication

Excellent dial legibility

The dial features various shades of grey with finishes that differ according to the functions, reflecting the layout of 1940s Vacheron Constantin chronographs. Standing out against a silvered opaline base, the small seconds and chronograph minutes counters are distinguished by a circular-brushed ring with a snailed centre.

Excellent dial legibility

Tradition and expertise

The moon phase disc is hand-finished, in keeping with the fine tradition of artistic crafts cultivated by Vacheron Constantin. In a nod to historical watches, it symbolically depicts the moon as an alternately smiling or melancholic face, depending on the path of the Earth's satellite.
